India’s adventure-tourer market has seen the introduction of two new models from Benelli: the TRK 552 and TRK 552X. The base price for the TRK 552 is set at Rs 7.22 lakh, while the TRK 552X starts at Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom prices). Bookings for these models are now open at authorized Benelli Keeway dealerships nationwide.
Key Specifications
A significant upgrade in the new TRK models is the engine. The 552cc parallel-twin engine replaces the previous 499.6cc unit, producing 51.2PS at 8,500rpm and 49Nm at 6,500rpm, with power transmitted through a 6-speed gearbox. Notably, both variants come equipped with a full list of standard features, including a 5-inch TFT display that supports offline maps and smartphone connectivity, heated grips, a heated rider’s seat, and a tyre pressure monitoring system – features that are typically found in higher-priced models within this category.
Variant Differences
The TRK 552 is the road-focused variant, while the 552X is the one for rougher terrain. Although they share the same engine and chassis, as well as suspension components, the tuning of the cycle parts differs between the two. The TRK 552 features 17-inch alloy wheels at both the front and rear, fitted with Pirelli tyres that are 120-section at the front and 160-section at the rear.
It has a ground clearance of 190mm and a seat height of 835mm. In contrast, the 552X comes with cross-spoke wheels, measuring 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, paired with Metzeler tyres that are 110-section and 150-section in size. The 552X has a higher ground clearance of 210mm and a seat height of 860mm. Both bikes tip the scales at 235kg, which is noticeably more than some competitors.
Pricing and Competition
The TRK 552 is available in black and white for Rs 7.22 lakh. The TRK 552X comes in white and green at Rs 7.74 lakh. Additionally, Benelli is offering a limited-edition yellow shade with golden rims on the 552X, priced Rs 16,000 higher than the standard variant. Buyers in this segment have several alternatives to consider. For instance, the Honda NX500 E-Clutch is priced at Rs 7.44 lakh, putting it between the two Benelli models. The Kawasaki Versys 650, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 8.63 lakh, representing a significant premium over both TRK models.
