Ducati introduced the Formula 73 to the Indian market with a retail price of Rs 20 lakh, marking the brand’s entry into a new region while celebrating its 100-year history. The model draws its visual language from the 1973 Ducati 750 Super Sport Desmo, a classic that helped define the company’s reputation for performance-oriented motorcycles.
Only 873 units will be built worldwide, and each example receives a unique serial number that is etched onto the steering plate. Buyers also obtain a certificate of authenticity that verifies the bike’s place in the limited series, reinforcing its status as a collector’s item.
In terms of appearance, the Formula 73 mirrors the lines of its historic counterpart, featuring a two-tone finish that blends silver with aqua-green accents. A striking vertical gold stripe runs along the fuel tank, adding a touch of elegance while emphasizing the motorcycle’s retro silhouette. The overall styling pays homage to the original while incorporating modern proportions.
Power comes from an 803 cc air-cooled Desmodue L-twin engine equipped with a two-valve desmodromic valve system. This powerplant delivers 73 PS at 8,250 rpm and generates 65.2 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, meeting the stringent Euro 5+ emissions standards. The engine’s layout supports a balanced weight distribution that enhances handling on twisty roads.

The chassis consists of an aqua-green tubular-steel trellis frame that provides rigidity without excessive weight. Front suspension duties are performed by a 41 mm upside-down Kayaba fork, while the rear is managed by a preload-adjustable Kayaba monoshock, both tuned for a blend of comfort and sportiness.
Rolling on 17-inch aluminium spoked wheels, the bike is fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres that offer grip in both dry and wet conditions. Braking is handled by a 330 mm front disc paired with a four-piston radial Brembo caliper, complemented by a 245 mm rear disc, delivering confident stopping power.
Electronic assistance includes two selectable riding modes, power-mode settings, Ducati Traction Control, and Bosch Cornering ABS. A quick-shift system enables seamless up- and down-shifts, while a 4.3-inch colour TFT display provides clear information. Full-LED lighting, self-cancelling turn indicators, and a USB charging port round out the modern feature set, ensuring the motorcycle remains both functional and stylish.
